I've had this done for about 2 weeks actually, so I haven't actually made any real progress on it yet. Leave it to me to start working on something right before I get a day job eh?

Well then...

It's Monday, I'm sleepy, and I have to go to work. Other than that, no new news here.

Characters...

Okay, so I have some characters I'm pretty happy with..

This is a secondary character... and for anyone who doesn't know, this is a drawing of myself.

This guy here, is the main character. He will change a bit throughout the story, but this is his look at the start.

Character Design

That's what I'm doing, thinking of how I'm going to draw the people in the book, then making pinups, then saying yes or no. I'll post some pics when I can.

Cause I felt bad...

Pages 1 and 2. Finished art. Well.. it'll be a cover pinup, an introduction, THEN pages 1 and 2 lol... like any other comic

Some pics of the rough sketches

These pics are VERY rough. Most of the pictures you can't even tell what's going on. I had some rough dialog on the pages, but I took that out. Mainly because I took the story in a slightly different direction. I could use pretty much the same panel art, just have them say some different things. Another thing is that some of the rough sketch panels on these pages, have been removed, replaced, or moved around. Typical editing. Like I've said, this was just rough concept and layout design. The characters probably won't even look anything like they do here.

Okay, so that's page 1-5. A little tidbit for ya... its now page 3-5.

Good day...

I'm babysitting my niece, Grace today. Well, I do most days. Anyway, I decided to do a Ninja-Turtle-Thon today because Grace has been playing with an old Donatello action figure I had laying around as of late. She REALLY seems to like the Turtles! She actually picked up that they were four different beings almost immediately! She's only 24 months old! She said "Mikey!" and can point him out, and she also says "wee-oh" and knows he's the blue one. We've watched the 2007 TMNT movie so far, as well as the one made in 1990. She actually seemed to respond better to the live-action film. She points at splinter and says "cat?" lol, almost there I suppose. She also finds Casey Jones Hilarious for some reason. She covered her mouth and would snicker whenever Raph said "damn" too. Probably not the best word for a 2 year old, but I'll let her mom deal with that. (>_<)

Anyway, watching the movies, I was trying to do some comic outline work, but, I got caught up in the movies and the kid. I did get some work done, and I plan on doing more now, as she naps. I just wanted to share this cute little story on my further Ninja Turtle corruption.

I got like.. 5 scans outta the stupid thing.. and now it's dead. It's giving me an unlock scanhead error. If it were a Xerox C2424 or 8560/8860 MFP Solid Ink thing, I could totally fix the scanner (used to be my job) but noo0o0o.. had to be a stupid visioneer I got from the thrift store..
but.. all in all.. Im out 10.10 lol... nothing to cry about..
What I DO have to cry about, was I was gonna show scans of the project Im doing.
Guess you guys are gonna have to make due with pics.

Here goes tho.

Okay, so This is one of the main settings for the story. This is actually an almost finished panel. it's made mostly in Bryce, then I added some photoshop touch (to make it 2d) and finally did some good ol hand drawing to boot. All in all, I think this panel came out well. Especially considering the original sketch I did for layout lol. It's down here...








Yeah, It's that bluish thing there. You can kind of see where I was coming from with the general shape. At least I can anyway, and, at the end of the day, That's all that matters. Also notice that I used a plain ol college ruled notebook for the layout. Why? the margins on the paper seem to lay out well compared to a sketchbook. I don't have to really measure things or make lines. This saves me quite a bit of time and allows me to just brainstorm.

I can't send or recieve picture mail, because the lovely browser is broken. Perhapse a firmware update will fix the problem? Lets see! It's at 100% and had been for 15 minutes..... did the update to the firmware that's supposed to stop crashed programs crash? I wouldnt doubt it... oh! wait! no... now it says finalazing update. hmm... how long is this gonna take... one wonders....

Ouchy!

I seem to have hurt my foot. I dunno how, but it feels like it's on fire!
On a good note though, I'm making some progress on my little comic project, I'm about half way through the initial layout and set up of the book. (half the pages are drawn but reallly reallly sketchy.)
Once I'm done with all that, I'll make pin-ups of all the characters, get their final looks down n such (I have no idea why I wait to do that second to last) but anyway, after that, all I have to do is draw all the panels, and Photoshop the heck outta all of it, well... Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, etc. I'll probably make some of the backdrops in Bryce or 3dsMax too, as I find it easier to make buildings in 3d and then flatten them. It also helps with continuity, being that I'll have the city made and can take the shots I need as I need them. Anyway, look back soon to see some early work!

You can also see one of my notebooks with a panel sketch in it. It's for the project I'm working on. Just some rough sketches so I know what to do in the way of layout.

Wow! Thats a low price!

Whilst at my local thrift store, (aptly named Ohio Thrift) I found something pretty darned interesting. 19 Archie TMNT Comics, ranging in number from 26 to 60 something... they were a buck a piece, lol, only 25-60 cents lower than cover. I picked them up after a good bargaining agreement with Jessica 9 I had to buy her the New Moon movie. I also picked up a 10 dollar scanner... yay!

Hmm.... if I had a scanner Id be able to post my newest project.. but.. I don't, so digital pics from a distance are gonna have to do. Sucks too, the stuff I do on paper is s0o0o much better than photoshop... Oh well..
